Disneyland Has The Best Food But This Is Not It

Disneyland has some of the BEST and most famous theme park food corndogs, churros, Mickey-shaped beignets, lobster nachos, and churro toffee, just to name a few! In addition to year-round staples, Disneyland also brings a wide range of new and delicious food items to its festivals, like the Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival and Disney Festival of Holidays. All that being said, it can be very hard to narrow down a must-have food list on a Disneyland vacation!

Two new menu items at Red Rose Taverne recently caught our eye as guests were calling it Disneyland’s version of a “crunch wrap.” In fact, it took us two trips to Disneyland to finally make it happen!

The Red Rose Taverne is located in Fantasyland at Disneyland Park and is themed to Beauty and the Beast. This quick-service restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner with unique menus for each mealtime and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating.

Part of why these “crunch wraps” have been so elusive to us is that they’re exclusive to the dinner menu, which begins at 4:00 PM. There are two options for you to choose from the Spicy Chicken Fantasyland Faire Fold and the Burger Fantasyland Faire Fold.

Spicy Chicken Fantasyland Faire Fold flour tortilla filled with a four-chile spice chicken patty, hash browns, cheese, white cheese sauce and pickle aïoli $14.79

The spicy chicken patty definitely reminded us of a spicy chicken sandwich from Wendy’s, except the spice was lost in the overpowering hash brown patties. It probably could have done without one of the hash browns, and it would have been a little less overwhelming. The pickle aïoli was also a miss for us. The pickle flavor almost tasted artificial and would have been better off with actual pickle slices and aïoli as separate ingredients.

Burger Fantasyland Faire Fold flour tortilla filled with seasoned ground beef, hash browns, cheese, white cheese sauce and burger sauce $15.29 The Burger Fantasyland Faire Fold was my favorite of the two! It was greasy and over-indulgent. It was heavy on the cheese sauce, which would normally be a winning combination, except it overpowered any flavor from the burger sauce. It, too, could have benefited from pickles to give it some crunch and acidity.

For someone who loves cheesy, saucy, fried foods, the Fantasyland Faire Folds were too much even for me. It’s hard to imagine eating an entire one and being able to survive walking around a theme park. They were close, but not quite; each was too much and needed some sort of spice or crunch element to break up the grease.

The Fantasyland Faire Folds weren’t a complete flop, but also something I won’t get again. Especially not at Disneyland with SO many great dining options! I have previously enjoyed breakfast at Red Rose Taverne during a busy morning riding classic Fantasyland attractions and will likely return to try other items.
